Disinfection

Disinfection

Disinfection, also known as decontamination, is a series of treatments aimed at eliminating harmful microorganisms on surfaces and utility items. Different disinfectants are used depending on the type of microorganism to be eliminated (viruses, bacteria, fungi, spores, etc.).

By choosing our company, we guarantee you:

  • fast service throughout Poland, e.g. disinfection in Inowrocław, disinfection in Poznań, disinfection in Bydgoszcz, disinfection in Warsaw, disinfection in Gdańsk, disinfection in Toruń, etc.
  • safety of the disinfection carried out for both humans and animals,
  • selection of the disinfection method and preparation that complies with the recommendations of the Chief Sanitary Inspector and the Ministry of Health.

Disinfection agents

Disinfection is carried out using chemical, physical, and thermo-chemical agents.

Physical agents

Surface disinfection by physical means means destroying viruses and microbes by means of:

  • radiation, which, as the name suggests, uses UV rays with a wavelength of 256 nm. The rays kill microbes in the air,
  • using water vapour. This process requires the use of special equipment and involves directing a hot stream of pressurised steam generated by them at a temperature of 100 105 0C to disinfect the surface to be cleaned, thus eliminating all pathogens on it.

Chemical agents

Chemicals are also used to effectively disinfect surfaces. According to Wikipedia, the following types are used in particular, which destroy microbes, spores and viruses: alcohols, quaternary ammonium salts, aldehydes, phenolic compounds, biguanides, heavy metal compounds, e.g. silver, copper and mercury compounds, halogen compounds, e.g. iodine, chloramine, iodophors, crystal violet (gentian violet), ethacridine lactate (rivanol), oxidising agents – ozone (O3), peroxides, e.g. H2O2 or permanganates, e.g. potassium permanganate, tensoids, e.g. soaps, acids and bases.

When using preparations and disinfectants, it is important to remember that the higher the concentration and the longer the exposure time, the more effective the disinfection service will be.

The dosage of the preparation must be determined individually for each problem.

The most common factors affecting the disinfection service are: the type of surface, the concentration and formulation of the agent, the exposure time, and the temperature.

Disinfection of products, surfaces, etc. is also carried out using a thermalchemical method, which involves the use of a chemical method, and in addition an additional effect on the surface/contaminated material through high temperature using equipment.

Disinfection methods

Various types of disinfection methods are commonly used, such as:

  • Pouring
  • Fine spraying (method used to disinfect surfaces both indoors and outdoors)
  • Immersion (applies to objects)
  • Cold and hot fogging

Among the many methods, this is a service that is definitely worth choosing. It is usually used in closed rooms. It involves releasing a disinfectant with a strong stream of air. The mist then spreads and reaches every, even the smallest crevice. This is one of the most effective ways to protect a facility against viruses and bacteria, and it is used by our qualified team of professionals. To ensure thorough disinfection, the preparation penetrates even the smallest surfaces – we use modern foggers to reach cracks and crevices.

There are different fogging methods:

  • ULV fogging (ultra-low volume) is one of the best disinfection methods. Cold fogging involves the generation of microscopic droplets and their distribution by means of a cold fog generator. The small droplets rise into the air and reach every corner, covering all surfaces. The advantage of using a ULV generator is the high quality of the treatment with minimal quantities of biocides.
  • Thermal fogging – This method involves the use of a thermal fog generator to create a fog made up of a mixture of the working fluid – water, biocide and carrier (glycerine-based). The working fluid evaporates under the influence of high temperature and then condenses on contact with the cooler atmosphere of the room. Thermal fogging produces fog with a droplet diameter as small as 0.5 microns. It lingers in the air much longer than cold fog, which allows for longer contact of the chemical preparation with the organism being controlled. Thermal fogging is used wherever microorganisms need to be controlled. This service is suitable for large enclosed spaces as well as open areas.
Ozonisation

An ozone generator is used for chemical-free disinfection of indoor spaces. It is a completely safe process that does not involve any chemicals. However, it should be emphasised that although ozone is safe, it can be poisonous if its concentration exceeds the standard. A harmful concentration is a level above 0.08 ppm, at which point ozone is dangerous for humans and animals.

Gassing

Disinfection used in closed rooms, which consists in the application of a disinfectant substance – fumigants, i.e. chemical products in the form of smoke, steam or gas for a specified period of time.

We offer the following disinfection services:

  • post-mortem disinfection,
  • ozonisation, odour elimination
  • chicken coop cleaning, coccidiosis control,
  • disinfection against the coronavirus COVID-19,
  • protein treatment, pigsty and stable whitewashing,
  • sale of disinfectants, e.g. hand sanitiser, cleaning and disinfecting agents, etc.

Where do we carry out disinfection?

We carry out surface disinfection in many sectors, including:

  • home – disinfection applies to rooms in the house, flats, garages, etc.
  • agriculture – disinfection is used in pigsties, chicken coops, barns,
  • medicine – disinfection of sanitary equipment, sanitary tools, hospitals,
  • transport – disinfection of cars, containers,
  • public utilities: disinfection of kindergartens, schools, office premises,
  • companies – warehouse and office premises,
  • hotels – disinfection of rooms, halls, kitchens.

Disinfection effectiveness

By choosing Zakład DDD Andrzeja Panfila and using its disinfection services, you are guaranteed an effective decontamination procedure.

An especially important factor in effective disinfection is the chemicals used, which must be at the right concentration. The service used must include appropriately adjusted chemicals, which should also be suitable for the temperature, pH and humidity. The main factor to consider when disinfecting is the type and number of microorganisms.
