Pest monitoring in accordance with HACCP, BRC, IFS, AIB, GMP, GMP+, GHP, ISO, etc.
A pest monitoring system is the regular execution of a planned sequence of observations and measurements of all aspects of pest activity in order to obtain the basic data needed to evaluate past procedures and to use in future pest control plans.
In order to protect a site from rodents and insects, it is necessary to implement and organise a pest monitoring and control programme. Pest monitoring allows for systematic protection of a given site against insects and rodents. It is a preventive measure that allows for a quick response in case of a pest infestation.
Andrzej Panfil’s pest control company offers pest monitoring and control services as well as the introduction of comprehensive documentation in accordance with the applicable systems in the plants (GMP GHP, GMP+, HACCP, ISO, BRS, IFS, AIB, etc.). Thanks to the established rules of conduct in the documentation, maximum protection of the plant against pests as well as food safety is ensured.
We provide pest monitoring and control services to many food plants across the country. Together with their representatives, we have introduced systems and supervise pest control according to GMP, GMP+, GHP, HACCP, ISO, BRC, IFS, AIB procedures.
One of the first and basic stages of pest monitoring is to inspect the facilities and develop pest control rules.
HACCP, GMP, GHP system
HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points. It is a procedure aimed at ensuring food safety through regular inspections of the facility, as well as the control of monitoring equipment installed for this purpose and immediate response in the event of an emergency through the implementation of corrective actions.
When implementing the HACCP system, it is necessary that the company in which we undertake pest control complies with the HACCP system conditions such as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and GHP (Good Hygiene Practice). The GMP and GHP systems are designed to eliminate the causes of inadequate sanitary conditions. This reduces the risk of pests affecting the goods produced.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
According to the GHP system (Good Hygiene Practice), the most important element of monitoring is to protect the company from pests based on IPM (Integrated Pest Management).
Integrated pest management (IPM) is the combined use of all available methods and means of pest control to reduce the number of harmful animals in a way that is
- effective,
- economical
- safe for the environment and human health.
The pests that pose the greatest danger to food and groceries are storage pests, grain pests (e.g. lesser grain borer, lesser mealworm), flying insects (wasps, flies), crawling insects (German cockroach), rodents (mice, rats).
The principles of pest control are based on:
- pest monitoring, i.e. constant observation of the threat (use of detectors/traps as proof of the presence or absence of pests – overview of monitoring devices, e.g. various types of traps (running insect traps and flying insect traps, insecticide lamps and rodent feeders)),
- preventive measures
- repressive measures
The monitoring system also includes
- intelligence: information received from the customer (pest control programme coordinator)
- visual inspection carried out by pest control company employees during working visits
HACCP, ISO, BRC, IFS, AIB system documentation
The Disinfection, Pest Control and Rodent Extermination Company draws up documentation on how to protect the company against pests. In accordance with the company’s food safety requirements, the
pest monitoring and control programme should include, among other things:
- Procedures for protecting the company against pests (rodents, insects, birds),
- Diagram of pest activity,
- Analysis of pest activity trends,
- Pest risk assessment,
- Instructions for internal inspection of rodent live traps, glue traps, pheromone traps,
- Corrective actions after pest activity has been detected in the plant,
- Safety data sheets of the preparations used, together with the permit of the Minister of Health,
- Certificates of completed training courses confirming the qualifications of the ddd company.
The Andrzej Panfil Disinfection, Pest Control and Rat Control Company guarantees professionally conducted pest monitoring, which consists of, among other things:
- replacing the poison in rat bait stations,
- cleaning and disinfecting rat bait stations,
- monitoring live traps and replacing the preparation,
- monitoring sticky traps for running insects,
- monitoring insecticide lamps,
- monitoring of pheromone traps,
- maintaining complete documentation in accordance with company requirements (HACCP, ISO, BRC, IFS, AIB, etc.),
- intervention measures, e.g. carrying out an intervention in the event of an infestation of rodents or insects,
- training for designated company employees (regarding signs of the presence of pests and the pathogens they transmit) or other HACCP requirements,
- removal of pests/ collection and disposal of pests,
- replacement of damaged/destroyed devices (sticky traps, pheromone traps, live traps, etc.),
- annual audit by a field biologist
- cooperation with entomologist Prof. Dr. Hab. Stanisław Ignatowicz.
